EAMA Prize

The European American Musical Alliance is pleased to announce the winning works for the 2011 EAMA Prize.

For winning the EAMA Prize, each composer will receive a cash award of $4,500 made possible by the generous support of the Double-R Foundation.

This year the EAMA Prize received over 120 scores from all over the world and we would like to say thank you to all for your submissions.

We received many excellent works and remain committed to recognizing music of profound artistic message, possessing a unique musical voice, and demonstrating clear, direct power of communication.

The Final Jury for the 2011 EAMA Prize was:
Ara Guzelimian, Provost and Dean of The Juilliard School; Former Senior Director and Artistic Advisor, Carnegie Hall
Philip Lasser, Director of EAMA, Professor at The Juilliard School
Donald Nally, Conductor, The Crossing Choir
Ken Noda, Pianist, Musical Assistant to James Levine, Metropolitan Opera
Alex Ross, Music Critic of The New Yorker, author of “Listen to This” and the highly acclaimed book “The Rest is Noise”

The EAMA Prize is awarded to a musical composition of profound artistic message, possessing a unique musical voice, and demonstrating clear, direct power of communication.

The EAMA Prize is awarded in two levels:

The EAMA Masterwork Prize ($10,000 USD)

The EAMA Prize ($4,500 USD)

The EAMA Prize is open to composers of any age and nationality. A composer may submit a work of any length and instrumentation written after 2005. The adjudication process is entirely anonymous. There is no application fee.  A submitted work is eligible to win in either award level. The awarding of the EAMA Prize is at the sole discretion of the final jury.

The results of the 2011 EAMA Prize will be announced December 1st, 2011.

The application deadline for The 2012 EAMA Prize awards will be May 15th, 2012.
