Nadia Boulanger believed that one could not learn to be a true musician without first having thoroughly trained the ear, and securely mastered the essential techniques of music. Only then can composers be truly free to seek their own interpretive voice and create a unique and communicative sound-world in their music.
The founders, Narcis Bonet and Philip Lasser, and the core faculty share the vision and the commitment to impart this rich musical tradition to emerging young artists. The curriculum, building upon Nadia Boulanger’s vision, includes intensive coursework in the fundamental tools of musical understanding- counterpoint, keyboard harmony, analysis, choral singing, and musicianship classes.
In addition, distinguished composers, instrumentalists, and scholars are invited to give master classes and lectures. Master Class offerings vary from year to year.
